'Painter's Refuge: A Way of Life' catalogs works from Reginald Sylvester II's first solo US museum show at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture in Sylvester's hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. The publication features installation views from the exhibition along with artist interviews with Marshall N. Price and Franklin Sirmans, and an essay by Rachel Waldrop. The deconstructed volume - part artists book, part catalogue, displaying a Swiss binding and a cut-out cover that reveals silver interior pages - mimics the cut canvases and exposed frames in Sylvester's most recent body of paintings.
